# The Quiet Weight of a Name

## A Single Letter

My site lives at pete.md because I wanted something small and personal. Pete is not grand. It does not promise expertise or brilliance. It simply says this is me, the same person who once answered to that name across playgrounds, kitchens, and late-night conversations. The .md feels like an honest extension of that, a quiet nod to the plain-text world where thoughts begin before they become anything else.

## What Lasts

Names carry weight we rarely notice until we choose one for ourselves. When I type pete.md I am reminded that identity is mostly memory and repetition. The same way a childhood friend can say your name and instantly return you to a younger version of yourself, a domain can become a small anchor. It says I was here, I wrote this, I tried to think clearly.

Over time I have learned that the best writing happens when I stop performing and simply speak as Pete would, the version who forgets his keys, laughs too loud at his own jokes, and still believes most problems can be solved with patience and a cup of tea.
